Roundtable of Communication
Introduction:
- Based on the idea of traditional
Jirga System
- Department of J&MC as Institutional
Home
Objectives:
- Centralisation of Activity in an
Academic Environment
- Formation of Committees for “Awareness
networking” and “Developing pressure group”
to sensitise the society Committees
- Education Committee
- Civil Societies (CSOs) Committee
- Industries’ Committee
- Media Committee
- Committee to meet decision-makers/
politicians
Shortcomings:
- Lack of clear concepts (what to
do?)
- Voluntary participation ending
in lack of interest and commitment; ultimately hindering continuity
to develop a sustainable process
- The idea of “conservation”
itself deals with the problem partially and superficially
Future Prospects:
- Strategies rooted in empirical
research (knowing the real world through knowing the real problem)
- A collaboration of Department of
J&MC at both research and implementation levels
- Knowing the socio-cultural and
political hindrances in sustainable development and humane living
through research
- Discussing the research through
RTs at different Stakeholder levels
- Devising strategies for participatory-,
sustainable development through a dialogue between the: -
- Power Stakeholders (Industrialists/politicians/other
decision makers)
- The common folk (through research)
- The institutional home doing the
networking as well as advisory function; and also
- Facilitating the process through
its input at the research level on environmental issues
